Groov — every control

A turntable you play with a pattern.

5 parameters, generated from the parameter registry and checked against the plug-in on every build — so this page and the software cannot describe different instruments. It says what each control does, not what it sounds like.

Version 0.9.1 · Windows x64 · VST3, CLAP and standalone · offline activation, no account, no telemetry.

Groov — $19

A turntable you play with a pattern rather than a hand. A gesture pattern drives a playhead through a loaded sample, read through a mipmap so a fast pass sounds fast rather than broken — the artefact of a cheap sample-rate change is exactly what this avoids.

Clock

BPM

How fast the gesture pattern cycles. Ignored while the host transport rolls.

Range 40 to 200 · default 90 · automatable · bpm

Used for: locking to a bar, free running scratch.

Transport

Inertia

How much mass the platter has. 0 is instant; 1 lags with a 50 ms time constant.

Range 0 to 1 · default 0.1 · automatable · inertia

Used for: softening reversals, heavy platter.

Feel

How steady the hand is. Wanders the playhead without moving the beat.

Range 0 to 1 · default 0.08 · automatable · humanize

Used for: unsteady hand, avoiding machine repetition.

Window

Cue Start

Where in the sample the scratch window begins, as a fraction of the file.

Range 0 to 1 · default 0 · automatable · cue_start

Used for: choosing a syllable, finding a hit.

Scratch Window

How much of the sample one stroke covers, in seconds. Decides what the scratch is OF.

Range 0.05 to 2 · default 0.15 · automatable · range_sec

Used for: baby scratch, tape edit, tonal scratching.

How this page is made

Every parameter above comes from metadata/groov.yaml, the single definition of this instrument. The build refuses to publish if the C++ registrations, that file and this reference describe different instruments — and it refuses if any declared parameter fails to change the output, because a control that does nothing is the failure that passes every other test.
