What you are buying, what you may do with it, and what is not promised.

Choosing a product and paying through PayPal is your offer to buy. The contract is formed when the licence key is sent to you. If a price is displayed wrongly and the error is obvious, the order may be declined and the payment returned in full.
The contract language is English.
All prices are in USD ($). Prices shown are the total amount payable. No sales tax, VAT or consumption tax is added at checkout. Depending on where you live, your own tax authority may treat an import of digital services as your responsibility.
There are no delivery charges, because there is nothing to deliver physically.
Licence keys are currently issued by hand after payment clears, normally within two working days. This is not an instant download, and it is said here rather than discovered afterwards.
The software itself is downloaded from this site or from GitHub.
The plug-ins are proprietary. Purchase grants you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to install and use the plug-in on machines you control, including in commercial work. There is no activation limit and no machine count.
You may not redistribute the software, resell it, sublicense it, or share your licence key. You may not remove the licensing mechanism. Reverse engineering is permitted only to the extent that applicable law says it cannot be prohibited — which in the EU includes interoperability under Article 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC.
Your key carries the name and email it was issued to. The deterrent to sharing it is not a technical lock; it is that a shared key has your name inside it.
The VCV Rack modules are licensed the same way, with two differences. They run on Windows, macOS and Linux rather than Windows alone, and they carry no licence key and no activation of any kind. Nothing checks whether you paid. That is a deliberate choice and not an oversight: a Rack plugin that phones home or refuses to load is a plugin that breaks somebody's patch three years from now, and no amount of copy protection is worth that.
Patches you build are yours. A patch file records which modules you used and how they are wired; it is not the software. You may share, sell or publish any patch you make, including patches that use these modules, with no permission needed and no obligation to say where they came from. The same goes for audio you make with them, whether or not it is commercial.
What you may not do is redistribute the modules themselves, whether alone or bundled inside something else.
These products are built on third-party components, each with its own licence, and those licences are taken seriously here. If you believe anything in this software is distributed on terms it should not be, write to daniel.boles@gmail.com.
That address reaches a person and not a queue, and a licensing question is answered on its merits rather than defended. Where a change is owed it will be made.
Everything in the commercial line is at version 0.9.1 and is sold as a pre-release at half the normal price. It is complete and tested; what it has not yet had is a full listening pass, which is why it is not called 1.0.
A pre-release is expected to change. Between now and 1.0:
Where a change would break a saved project, it will be described in the release notes rather than left to be discovered.
Buying at beta pricing includes every later version at no extra cost, permanently — including 1.0 and any major version after it. This overrides the paid-upgrade clause above for anything bought at beta pricing. Activation is offline, so there is no mechanism to withdraw a licence and none is wanted.
Beta pricing is temporary. When a product reaches 1.0 its price returns to the normal price. That does not affect anything already bought: the price you paid is the price you paid, and the licence does not expire.
Refunds on a pre-release purchase are offered within 24 hours of your key being issued, no reason needed; regular releases carry the 14-day policy. Where you have a statutory right to cancel — EU and UK consumers do, and there is no pre-release exemption from it — that right applies in full and the longer window is the one you get. Pre-release status is a description of the software, not a reduction of your rights. The refunds and cancellation page sets out both.
The subscription is not open. There is a waitlist rather than a checkout, and nothing recurring can currently be started.
When it opens: the price, the billing interval and the renewal date will be shown before you agree to anything; you will be able to cancel at any time from the account you bill it from, without contacting anyone; and cancelling keeps every licence already issued to you, since those do not expire and there is nothing to switch off.
You have 14 days to cancel and be refunded. How to do it, and the model cancellation form, are on the refunds and cancellation page.
The software is supplied as it is. It is tested, and the testing is public, but it is not warranted to be error-free or fit for any particular purpose.
Nothing here removes rights you have by law. If you buy as a consumer in the EU, the UK, Australia or New Zealand, you have statutory guarantees about conformity and quality that cannot be excluded, and they apply in full. Where liability may lawfully be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid. Liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and for fraud, is not excluded — it cannot be.
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. If you buy as a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
Bugs go to the public issue tracker, and anyone may report one whether or not they have paid. A crash or data loss is prioritised above everything else regardless of who reports it.
Licence, payment and complaint matters go to business@prompt-forge.dev rather than the public tracker — do not paste a licence key into a public issue.
