About

What this is

Amplified Futures is an independent audio software project making modular instruments and plugins for bass architecture, drone density, time damage, and negative-space pattern generation.

It is one person, working in the open where that makes sense. Built by Daniel Boles.

The split

There are two layers, and they are deliberately different.

The Branca Series is the research line. Free, MIT-licensed, source on GitHub. Nineteen VCV Rack modules where the ideas get worked out — massed oscillator tuning, controlled feedback, collapse-and-recovery gestures, a clock that models mains sag. It is not a demo of the commercial products and it is not crippled. It is where the DSP is figured out, and it stays free.

The commercial instruments extend that research into performance-ready tools for deep bass, subsonic reinforcement, warped timing, chopped rhythm and pattern generation. Those pay for the time. None of them are finished.

If the open line is useful to you and the commercial line never is, that is a fine outcome.

What the instruments are for

The genre context is specific: gabber, grindcore, 90s hip-hop, dub, chopped-and-screwed, trip-hop, industrial, psytrance, bass music, noise, drone, jungle, IDM, dark techno.

These are not general-purpose utilities with a dark color scheme. They are built around particular problems — how to make many voices behave as one mass, how to make a feedback loop playable instead of dangerous, how to make time unreliable in a shaped way rather than a random one.

Nothing here emulates a specific piece of hardware. The instruments are fictional, and they are meant to be.

Contact

Issues, bugs and feature requests: GitHub Issues. That is the fastest route and it keeps the answer where the next person can find it.

The Branca Series is free and always will be. If it is useful and you want to support the work, there is a donate link — it funds development time, not a subscription to anything.
